Indoor Activities

Here in the Lowcountry we are surrounded by endless opportunities to learn and explore both indoors and outdoors. This page will list activities for you to learn and have fun around town. Whether it is a museum or a trampoline park, there is always an indoor escape. Don’t forget to check out your local library as well!

Public Works Art Center - located in Summerville. Hosts many events and classes including homeschool art classes (classes cost). (free to visit; classes have fees)

St. George Rosenwald School - located in St. George. Currently hosting the satellite location for the children’s museum. Education programs offered. (free)

Mellow and Play - located in Ladson on hwy. 78. This coffee shop and play place is owned by a local homeschool family.

Carolina Ice Palace - located in N. Charleston

Flight Adventure Park - located in N. Charleston. Kids ages 6 and under jump Mon-Fri from 10-11am for $13 (includes one adult). Homeschool discount Mon-thurs 11am-3pm $11/hr

N. Charleston Fire Museum - located in N. Charleston. Open Mon-Sat 10am-4pm. $6/adult. Kids 12 and under are free.

Skyzone Trampoline Park - located in Mt. Pleasant. Homeschool Hop on Wednesdays from 11am-1pm $14.99/1 hr or $21.99 for 2 hrs.

OutSlide In - located in West Ashley. Bring a canned good item on Tuesday’s for $2 off admission.

Summit Trampoline Park - located in West Ashley. Offers $10/month membership that many homeschoolers utilize.

Bizzy Bee Indoor Play Center - located in North Charleston.

Stars and Strikes - located in Summerville. Offering unlimited play for $12.99 on Tuesdays and half price on Wednesday.

Summerville Museum and Research Center - located in Summerville. Offering kids club the 3rd Saturday of the month.

Adrenaline Monkey Trampoline Park - located in North Charleston near Tanger. Offering homeschool hang every Friday from 10am-3pm.

Located Downtown:

Charleston Museum - In addition to regular museum events they also host Homeschool History Days once a month. These events book up fast.

South Carolina Aquarium - Check out passes from your local library.

Mace Brown Natural History Museum - closed on Wednesday. (free)

Children’s Museum of the Lowcountry

Halsey Institute of Contemporary Art - Open Mon-Sat from 11am-4pm (free)

Redux Contemporary Art Center - Open Tues-Fri from 11am-5pm; Also offers summer camps and art classes. (free)

Corrigan Gallary - (free)

Old Exchange and Provost Dungeon - offers exciting field trip opportunities for K-12.

The Gibbes Museum of Art - 1st floor is free. Paid entry to 2nd and 3rd floors.

The Best Friend of Charleston train museum - call ahead to make sure they’re open (free)

International African American Museum - open Tues-Sun from 10am-5pm.

Gaillard Center - offers educational performance for all ages through out the school year. Register as an individual family or as a homeschool group. These performances are low cost.

Around the State: These are places around SC that offer special programming or discounts for homeschoolers.

SC State Museum: located in Columbia. The state museum offers free admission to all homeschooled children and one homeschool teacher (with proof of homeschool membership letter from an association) every day. They also offer homeschool classes on Thursdays.

SC Military Museum: located in Columbia. The military museum offers multiple STEAM and enrichment opportunities for homeschoolers!

WonderWorks: located in Myrtle Beach. Offering homeschool days at different times throughout the year. Weekdays, while local schools are in session before 3pm. $15+tax per person. Not valid on holidays or weekends. Must provide homeschool association membership or umbrella letter to redeem.
